After getting a text from a friend saying do you fancy doing a social at the weekend and the wife say yep it’s OK for Friday night – we have a 50th birthday party to go to on Saturday night.
I let my friend pick the favourable area of the lake as he arrived way before me and it was just perfect. The wind was blowing nicely on to this bank. It was the perfect area and after a good lead around, I soon found a couple of perfect spots and flicked a bag on them both, with a few catalyst boilies over the top. Within the hour I was off and into a nice common.
That will do me as a starter. I re-baited that rod and settled down to a few glasses of wine and a natter, before I knew it, it was time to get in the bag. Even before I had put a foot in the bag, I was in to another fish. This tipped the scales at just over 17 lb. As the night progressed a very large thunderstorm went around the lake but luckily not really over it, as I continued to catch through the night.
Through the night I had 5 fish
What an amazing light show!
Resulting in this lovely 27 lb+ Common and not long after that another Common showing 19 lb 14 oz on the scales.
Now, that was a stonking nights fishing and not long after that, I was away again with my 8th fish of the trip and all in less than 12 hrs. This was another common at 19 lb 6 oz and as the morning progressed I banked another one at 20 lbs!
I ended up banking a total of 10 fish and losing 2, what a perfect way to start my week’s break away camping with the kids.
All these fish were taken over a small baited area, using catalyst boilies. Fishing bags filled with Pellet over the top, in conjunction with a Natural or a FW Pops ups Masla pop up.
Until next time
Richard
