I am out for 48 hours this session. The family are away for the weekend.
I arrived around 1815 on the Friday night (just before it got dark), but enough time to pick a swim, lead around, clip up and spomb some bait out. This was great news and a sign that the nights are drawing out.
A very foggy start to the day but once the sun had burnt it off, it was quite a nice day.
I felt that a zig rig could be an option as I had seen the odd bit of carpy movement in the upper levels.
The other rod was flicked along the tree lined margins with a kilo of poloni boilies over the top and load of sticky Groundbait mix.
The other rod will be put back on a smooth silty patch about 10 yards out, which has had the same amount of bait as the margin rod.
The forecast is for sunny days and cold nights with no wind. The bird life is going mad for Spring and the odd bumble bee has been around today, I would say Spring is well on its way and the Carp will feel this as well, they should start to spread around the lake a bit more.
With an uneventful night and different weather conditions to yesterday, I will have to put my thinking cap on and see if I can improve my chances before packing up time.
Unfortunately, even after trying 4 different colours on the zig rig and changing my hook bait to white, I was unable to tempt any Carp to pick up my baits this weekend.
Until next time
Richard
