Trip No 30 Pike Fishing (2016)

I am having one last go after the big Pike which in this lake and then, that will be it until next Winter.

image

Both rod’s are on  deadbaits and with a bit of Predator Plus over the top.

image

I have found a use for loom bands (other than making a mess with bands all over the house), thanks to my children’s obsession!

image

You can tie on your dead baits when casting out at range and with the help of  a Solu-Ties  the presentation is spot on.

image

One bait is under this tree

image

And the other is across the small bay just off the tree line.

image

A friendly Robin popped in to say hello.

Unfortunately, another blank Pike trip.  This brings the end to my Winter campaign, with my first fish being a 21 from the river.

It’s been hard going since then, with over 17 more Pike, they have all been low doubles or under.  It’s been reasonably productive, however no more big Pike.

Until next Winter.

Regards Richard

Trip No 29 Pike Fishing (2016)

I have decided to do something that I have not done for over 25 years and that’s to go Pike fishing over night.

image

I have picked this swim, it’s the only swim I have consistently had Pike from.  I have been chopping up my old dead baits and pre-baiting this area.

image

I think this is my best option and with probably only a few sessions left before I start on the Carp, we will just have to see.

I moved the rod’s before night fall to give me a bit of space.

image

Unfortunately, no joy overnight or this morning, back on days for the last few Pike trips.

Until next time
Richard

Trip No 28 Pike Fishing (2016)

image

I am out on the hunt for that allusive monster Pike again today.  I have moved to an area that I have not fished before, as it’s generally occupied by a Carp angler and I feel it’s worth a try.

image

One bait is along these margins and the other is in the bay area, to the right of me under a nice overhanging tree, a perfect Pike hide out.  Both rod’s are on dead baits as normal.

image

Lovely bay area.

No luck today unfortunately,  however I did chop up my old deadbaits and bait up an area that I fancy doing a night in this weekend.  I realised this is realistically my last chance,  before I start Carp fishing in March

Until the weekend, be lucky.

Trip No 27 Pike Fishing (2016)

Still on the hunt for that monster Pike.

image

Another perfect winter’s morning and still a chance for catching that Pike I was after.

image

With frost on the ground and a flat calm lake this morning.  I was feeling quite confident I am still in with a chance before they pair up to spawn.

At around 1 pm the right-hand indicator pulled up and dropped off.  I was into a low double figured Pike.

Despite hanging on for a extra 20 minutes that was the only Pike of the trip.

Until next time
Richard

Trip No 26 Pike Fishing (2016)

With the weather turning Wintry again with minus temperatures.  I am after Pike today and think I will stick with it for the rest of the week and see how it pans out.

image

It was a nice crisp morning before I got here today and will be for the next few day’s.

image

This bank looks very Pikey, let’s hope I am right.

Both rod’s are on dead baits with some Predator Plus.

image

I have flicked one in the corner and the other one on the bottom of the margin shelf.

image

And we shall see what happens today.

No Pike today, we shall see what tomorrow brings

Until next time

Richard
