Trip No 40 Carp Fishing (2016)

After doing a few hours this morning and a look around on a swim that felt fishy.  I was back and setting up in the dark.  There was just enough time to flick the rod’s out, I had clipped up before I was off earlier today, on a couple of nice spots.

image

The rest of the kit was set up in the darkness.  I was not going to put out any freebies and just use a washed out Poloni pop ups, one white & one yellow.

image

Both dipped in The Juice.

image

Around 1 am the yellow pop up rod was off with my first Airfield lake carp of 2016.

image

19lb 8oz Common with a big tail to give me an amazing fight.

image

My set up don’t look to bad in the morning.

image

Dispite the darkness, it was a quite organised.  After some 30+ year’s of setting up in the dark over the Winter months, it has become second nature.

image

Perfect view from the bivvy this morning across a small part of this lovely lake.

At around 10am, I recast the rod’s for the last 2 hour’s in the hope of another take,  unfortunately not to be .

Until next time
Richard

Trip 39 Carp Fishing (2016)

I am tucked away in snaggy corner on the Airfield lake for a few hours today and hopefully it will produce a fish for me.

image

Its a bit tight in here but there is room for two rod’s.

image

One under the righthand bush and the other.

image

This stump.

Both rod’s are on poloni pop up due to the Chod on the bottom.  They have on them a small Godman Angling Pva mesh bag filled with micro pellets soaked in Poloni oil and a handful of chopped Poloni boilies over the top.

image

Despite the lovely spring sunshine, the Carp were not feeling the love today.

Until next time

Trip No 38 Carp Fishing (2016)

I am back out again after packing up and doing the school run. I am safely back out on the lake in the sunshine for a few hours again today.

image

I have picked this swim for two reasons; firstly, its the area the Carp were in the other day when I was here and secondly, I am able to lead around with the marker float in the other half of the swim.

image

Without interfering or disturbing my other rods.

I am using Godman Angling PVA bags filled with Bait-Tech‘s micro pellets which have been soaked in Krill and Tuna oil and also Hemp oil.  There is also some broken poloni boilies and an extra squirt of oil as an added attraction.

With not a single sign of any Carp today, it was home time.

Until next time
Richard

Trip No 37 Carp Fishing (2016)

I have now started to do nights in the week again.  Which means I arrive just on dusk, this gives me 15 to 20 minutes to have a quick look at the lake before selecting my swim.  It is helped by my knowledge of being here during the day. Unfortunately, no photos unless a friendly Carp graces the net.

I have picked a small bay area where there is a nice area of overhanging trees and snags, hopefully, the Carp are held up on.  There’s just no way of telling, it’s just a feeling I have, as it’s on the north bank and receives a lot of sunshine during day light hours.  The down side is that the wind is shifting from North to North West on and off throughout the night and with the night temperature dropping.  This may mean the fish don’t come out to play until I am back at home, for the school run tomorrow morning.  Mind you, I will be back for the day at around 0930

One rod is in the bay and the other rod is along the reed’s to the left of me.  Both are on Poloni pop ups dipped in The Juice with small Godman Angling mesh bag filled with micro pellets, soaked in Krill and Tuna Oil and a couple of balls of my Groundbait mix over the top.  These fish are most certainly on natural food after the close season on here.

image

It was a very frosty pack up today, with no joy in the night.  I an back later on after the school run for a few hours, he weather is perfect for a pick up in the day.

Until next time
Richard

Trip No 36 Carp Fishing (2016)

image

The time has arrived and the airfield lake is open again.  I am down here for a good look around to see what work has been done over the Winter.

image

Just stunning open water, islands, bars and bays every where.

image

The fishing is hard going at first, as they have been on naturals for 5 months.  However, the beauty and wildlife makes you forget all that and it’s a pleasure to be back.

I did flick the rod’s out for a couple of hours, both on tiny bags with pop ups dipped in The Juice.

image

Which is new from Bait-Tech this year.

image

I could not help myself and have a go.

After seeing a couple of fish show, I was feeling hopefully but these fish tend to need a couple of weeks to get back onto bait and that provide to be the case today.

Until next time
Richard
