Trip No 70 Carp Fishing (2016)

It’s finally June 16th and I can get back on the Meadow and the Hampshire Avon again.

image

I am in my favourite snaggy swim along the day swim bank, with only one rod as you need plenty of room.  To get these fish under control I only use one rod and I have found that a second rod is just too much trouble.

I am using quite large mesh bag’s, with a mix of whole and broken Catalyst boilies, soaked in Tuna Oil.

No extra freebies, as I am not sure how much bait was put in the lake last night (for the start of the season).

Dispite seeing a couple of fish come though the margins.  They clearly were not feeding today.

Until next time
Richard

Trip No 69 Carp Fishing (2016)

I am out for a quick night, before my other lake opens and the river is open and I can get back after the carp.

image

As I had previously fished here before, I clipped up the spomb rod and put out a kilo of chopped Catalyst boilies, mix with pellet and cast both rod’s about 25ft apart.  Both have Natural Pop Ups on and settled down for the night.

With a low double around 3 am, that was my night over and done.  I was off at 6 and home to sort out the kid’s.  I will then be back out onto meadow lake for a few hours today.

Until next time
Richard

Trip No 68 Carp Fishing (2016)

I am on the lake for a few hours today.  I have gone on the windy side of the lake as there where a few fish showing 40 yards out and the water is quite cloudy.

image

I have spomb out a mix of The Catalyst boilies soaked in the food with some pellets.  I am fishing both rod’s over the top, as I didn’t fancy too much disturbance in the water.  Within the hour, I was into a low double but hard fighting Carp, these fish have big tails and just don’t give up.  That was the only fish of the day.

Until next time

Trip No 67 Carp Fishing (2016)

I am out on the inland sea for the night.  I have moved swim as it will give me a better angle on the right hand rod.  This is placed in a small bay area which has a nice depth.

image

Both areas have been baited with Spotted Fin The Catalyst boilies, soaked in the food dip.

There have been quite a few heavy rain storms and I was lucky enough to set up before they arrived.

With the alarm clock sounding at 0545 signalling it was time to head home.

Until next time

Trip No 66 Carp Fishing (2016)

I am out for the next couple of nights.  However, with the wife at work I will have to do the school run stuff.  Luckily, I have doubled up with a friend and can leave my gear with him.

image

I arrived down the lake at around 7pm and marked around for a bit and settled on a nice smooth silty area.  I stuck out a kilo of the Catalyst boilies soaked in the food dip and I will be fishing both rod’s on this spot, one on Natural Pop Ups, with the other a wafter.

image

With the sun setting, we settled down to a glass of wine and put the world to rights.

The first night past with a hook pull around 6am which was handy, as I had to get home to drop the kids off to school.

image

I was off by 0645 and made it back by 0930.  I flicked the rods out and as the day was still overcast and misty, I was feeling quite confident.  I was pleasantly surprised that by 1330 I had had two stunning commons!

A couple of of action shots, thank you Ian

            20lb on the noise

I topped up the swim and had a carp nap, by 1630 it was time to head home again.

Unfortunately, the second night also produced no fish.

Until next time
