Trip No 93 Carp Fishing (2016)

After a week away with the family in Ireland, which was fantastic fun. I am out with my eldest this weekend for two nights.

Unfortunately, the swim selection is based around an area that I can teacher her to float fish and a spot of quiver tipping.  As I believe that children should learn the basic skills, as an all round knowledge of fishing helps you understand watercraft etc.

The youngest was around for the afternoon, until the wife collected her after work.

The area that we picked gave me plenty of options and the ability to keep the carp rod away from the girls.  With plenty of space for some Roach and Rudd fishing.

With the sun going down, we settled in for our first night.  My daughters had quite few Roach and Rudd between them (in between the rain storms).

It was a quiet night, until about 0630 when the right hand rod was of, with a one toner some 80 yards out to a very unhappy Common.  After what felt like forever, the fish was in the margins and under my control.  It was still not giving up the fight, but after another 10 minutes or so, it was finally in the net.

Back she goes, the following day was spent teaching my daughter casting skills and ledger & float fishing.  She had plenty of fish – to the point she was bored, so next time we are going after bigger fish.

She has plenty of fish of this size.

I was joined by a friend for the second night, in next swim along.

The second night was very uneventful for me, which was a bit of a surprise.  I was hoping the fish would move onto the baited area.  However, the day was very hot and the wind had changed direction which my have contributed to this. But the real goal was to teach my daughter the art of fishing, which was achieve with great success.

Until next time

Richard

Trip No 92 Carp Fishing (2016)

This trip is going to be my last day, unless I take both my girls fishing, which I don’t think would be a great plan.  I met up with a friend for a few hours today and a catch up before the holiday.  The scorching weather has arrived and I thought it would be a good idea to try my hand at floater fishing.  It has been some years (I must add) and my tackle box was short of a few key items.  A trip to the tackle shop before my next floater trip I certainly need,  sufficed to say I blanked despite my best efforts and a couple of close calls.

Until next time

Trip No 91 Carp Fishing (2016)

This is my last night, before I am off to Ireland for a good tour around with the family.

And the best way to do this is, is a social with a friend on the Ressy, as I have had a pretty good week fishing.

The traps are set and the far margin has been baited up with a kilo of Caterlyst boilies and I am fishing a natural pop up over the top.

With the alarm clock sounding out, my queue to start packing up.  I had a bit of a disturbed night mostly due to Roach & Bream, unfortunately no carp.

Until next time

Trip No 90 Carp Fishing (2016)

Done the house husband bit and now back on the lake for the night.  I am trying to cram as many trips as possible in.

After my last trip in this swim and the wind pushing along this bank, I have opted to put both my rod’s on the spot which produced the most fish last time. As I am only here for a quick over nighter and arrived quite late, I felt this would be the best plan.  Unfortunately, it only resulted in a small common, which slipped the hook before going on the net, saved me a bit of time.

Until next time

Trip No 89 Carp Fishing (2016)

Just had to have another go and with only a few days left before the school holidays – you just have to make the effort.

With the weather turning sunny for a bit, it was not looking good.  The wind picked up and it became overcast, with some drizzle.  I was feeling quite confident again, just the timing was wrong I only had just over an hour left to go, before I needed to collect the kid’s from school.

Out of the blue, the tip hooped round and I was attached to a very unhappy Common.
