Trip 22 Carp Fishing 2017

With another few hours to spare today, I have headed down the lake again.

There has been a bit of a change in the weather, realistly it shouldn’t affect my chances on this particular lake, we shall see.

I have adopted the same tactics as yesterday, with the Catalyst paste and the partical syrup.

Mr Carp will just love that.

It’s been a very interesting and intense 4 hrs – to the point I have lost count of the number of fish in I have landed, it’s between 8 & 10!  As I was after a lots of gopro footage under the water and above, it’s just been perfect.

I managed a couple of photos on the mat, unfortunately I just couldn’t get the bigger fish today, these were all between 10 & 12lb.

Until next time

Richard

Trip No 21 Carp Fishing – 2017

After doing the night and only hearing fish and not a pick up.  There are only 2 days left before the lake closes for a few months, so I fancied a going on the easier lake for my last few trips here.

One rod was flicked out over the other side on a single pop up.  The other rod along the margins with catalyst paste only on the hair, over a bed of  Catalyst 4mm pellets soaked on red pellet oil.

In next to no time (perhaps not even 10 minutes) I had my first take, unfortunately it dropped off at the net – not had that happen for sometime.

I didn’t have to wait long before the other rod was off and I was into a near 20lb Common.

Despite all the lovely sunshine, that was the only action today.  It was very nice to get a bend in the rod though.

Until next time

Richard

Trip 20 Carp Fishing – 2017

What a difference a week makes?  Warm wind, sunshine and no rain or hail.  The water temperature has risen to a whole 7 degrees and the Carp will certainly be on the move.

After a look around and a chat with a couple of angler’s, I was not really sure where to fish.  So, I thought the best option was the area where I had spotted them before and with the airfield lake opening Tuesday my mind was on that lake and not this one.  In fact, my last two days sessions I have, I may even fish the easy lake for a bit of fun.  We all sometimes forget this and get wrapped up in catching the big Common etc.

I an fishing one rod along the left hand margin over a very small bed of  Catalyst boilies and pellets, with a single white pop up.  The other rod is just a single pop up and if I spot any fish showing (even in the night), I am going to flick that rod back out in their direction.

With only a few bleeps in the night and the odd fish topping, it was a suprise that I blanked, but these things happen.

With a beautiful sunrise this morning, pack up time had come around too quickly.

Until next time

Trip 19 – Carp Fishing – 2017

Today I am out for the afternoon and night (if I am feeling the love), after a chat with a couple of members, they said the fishing was very slow.  The weather was very mixed hail storms and then bright sunshine.

Which was the forecast for the afternoon.  I found a nice warm area at the back of the wind and found a nice hard area, which I put both rod’s in.  I did not wish to spread myself and the bait to far and wide, the water temperature is still only 5 degree’s, it was going to be hard going.

With yet another hail storm, I decided to head home – the water temperature had dropped down and I am glad I did, as the rain continued well into dark.

Until next time

Trip 18 Carp Fishing 2017

One rod in one spot today.  After a drive around the lake and a look in countless swima, I finally spotted a fish show and that was my mind made up.

On a very windy and sunny day, this was the pefect area. I flicked the bait out a couple of rod lengths with a tiny mesh bag dipped in  Catalyst food dip and a washed out pink dumbell pop up.  It also had a couple of small pouches of pellets and crushed boilies.

Tucked away in an over grown swim, just the way I like it.

Unfortunately, with the water temperature still low, it’s proving hard to get a bite.

Until next time

Richard
