I love my pike fishing and the Deeper is a great way to locate bait fish in a swim – be it on the river or lake. This helps me a great deal with my fishing when I get only a few hours on the bank. You can search out the bait fish or if you are lucky find a pike. This will stop wasting time in swims with no fish.
With a quick under arm flick, you can check out some great margin features. This can also be used on the river bank to great effect.
This hole contains bait fish and the potential of a big pike.
I am out again after the pike today and really hoping to get at leased one. It’s been pretty hard going after them this winter, I must say.
Found a pukka looking area and flicked two dead baits out. I gently let the Deeper through the swim and there where certainly some bait fish about.
Worth an hour in this spot I think.
I moved on to this single rod spot and gave it about 30 minutes here and then headed over the rickety bridge.
To another spot and found spring doing it’s best to arrive.
This was another one rod spot and after another 30 minutes or so (with an hour left before I needed to head home for the school run). I went back into my first swim as I felt it had the potential of producing a pike.
I sat down on my unhooking mat, lent against my rucksack, watched the swans sorting out the pecking order and a kingfisher in the reeds after the small fry. I sort of wished I had my other camera on me today.
It was very pleasant trip out on the river today but no pike again. This is not funny now, I may have to go after the chub instead. It’s been a long time since I have done any winter chub fishing.
