With the family away last week, I am limited to one night only this week. But with the high temperature, it may not be a bad thing.
There were a few anglers about as it’s Thursday night. However, after a look about, I headed to one of my favorite swims. I got the Deeper out to check it, I wanted to find a gully I like fishing. With such a variation in the depth here (more to the point), you need to find the gully, where the carp move along.
A gradual slope leading down to 4ft+ and then up to 3ft
It does this very quickly.
I have baited up with two bags filled with micro pellets, crushed boilies and added a mixture of spotted Fin liquids.
Rod one has a 15mm Smokey Jack wafter on and the other has a 15mm FW Masala pop up. I did well last year on this.
We shall see. It was all peaceful until around 3 am when the right-hand rod was off. It was attached to a very unhappy low double. It was safely returned and the rod was back on the spot. Within the hour it was off again also with a low double figured common. I was very glad to see the fish have started to feed. Mind you, with the water temperature rising, they had no option really.
It’s certainly a perfect morning for it – shame I have to head home in a few minutes.
Third fish of the night and all around this size. They do motor around with tails as big as this. With all stuff packed away and one rod on the ground, it was off for the fourth time! Another similar sized fish, not bad going after last week’s struggle.
This is what keeps us keeps us coming back for more.
Until next time.
Richard
