The weather forecast is looking pretty shocking on the wind/rain front. There is also a rise in the temperature and the pressure is at 1009 mb. It was looking good for a fish or two but I needed to get to the lake before the rain! The rain was looking to arrive first thing Saturday morning, so me arriving before the rain was just not going to happen. I did feel, it was defiantly worth it. I also have the added bonus of my new toy – in the shape of a Deeper pro plus. To say I was keen as mustard was an understatement. I did manage to get an early release from the family, I was in the car quicker than a ferret up a drain pipe!
Once I got down there, it looked like every one else fancied their chances. Who could blame them? I think there was 3 anglers on Friday night and by noon on Saturday we where up to 8! The swims are well spaced out and I had gone for an area away from most. I felt this swim had the potential to hold fish. The wind was pushing hard, so I also felt I needed to be on the back of the wind.
I got the Deeper out and had a cast about. I found some very pukka spots.
A nice dip down in a very flat lake bed is the perfect spot, it also had a little weed mixed in. I flicked the market rod out and popped it up near to the deeper area and out of interest tried to find this spot. The marker rod is not that accurate (hard as we try). I spomb out 4 large loads of a mixture of Particle and 2mm Catalyst Pellets.
I had added some Minamino and Betafin liquid to the mix yesterday afternoon when I made the mix up. This was in order to give it plenty of time to soak the goodness in. I fished a cut down Frank Warwick miracle berry Wafters with a washed out Maggot Cluster over this and a small stix mix bag. I then proceeded to do the same with the other rod but this time I used a snowman set up.
Both rods where fished similar depths as I felt the deeper the better for this time of the year. I then set about mapping a bit of the lake.
And even found a fish! I just need to hope my ground work does its work! We shall have to see.
The afternoon and the night past, the wind and the rain pushed through. It was quiet on the buzzer front. I woke up to bright sunshine with a windy shower on its way.
I had another play with the Deeper, I am going to love that bit of kit.
Some will say it’s cheating but I say it’s embracing modern technology. All people do in one shape or form e.g Cars, phone, camera’s, t.v’s etc, so why not fishing tackle I say? With the modern pace of live, this gadget will save you time and put more fish on the bank. This has got to be a plus on my book.
With the sun out and drying things, it’s time to pack up and head home.
Until next time
Richard

I think you need to go back to your own instinct as it`s been very rewarding in the past,
and if your getting negative feed back in your use of modern tech stuff,
Then don’t publish it and let it be your little secret,
from your catch history I don’t think you need any gadgets.
Ps I`m not trying to get your back up
Best wishes and Tight Lines.

Hi it’s more to be used on my other lake to try and pinpoint the bars & gullys to get a better understanding of the topography, just learning about the Deeper, at the moment, it’s pretty pukka bit of kit.
