Trip No 36 Carp Fishing (2015) done

Another quick trip out in-between decorating, the weather is spot on today,  so there was no way I was decorating.

After a good look around and with only three other people on the all lake, I took another opportunity to fish in one of my Winter swims.  I would not be leading around or markering too much as I did not what to disturb the fish.

Both had a good pouch of Bait-Tech Micro Spod & Pva pellet.

I have been soaking it in the Krill and Tuna oil as well.  This stuff makes me want a tuna sandwich every time I smell it!  Truly amazing.

Don’t forget good old faithful Hemp oil (don’t fancy a hemp sandwich though).

Both rods had Poloni pop ups on, as I was fishing underneath the bushes. I also attached a small bag of broken Poloni boilies and scattered a few along the tree line.

And within the hour I was attached to an upset Common,  which tipped the scales at 23lb 10oz .

With the rods back out, I sat back and drank my coffee and typed up this blog.

The hours had gone and I needed to be home

Trip No 35 Carp Fishing (2015)

I am back out for my Sunday afternoon/night trip which I have missed recently, mostly due to fish – I must add.

image

I am fishing one of the Winter swims which I will be fishing this year.  Due to my house husband duty’s, I did not arrive until after dark.  I needed to do a bit of forward planning, lead around and take notes of distances to spots, in all the swims I will be baiting up with Bait-Tech Poloni boilies this year.

The first spot is to my right on the drop off of the bar which runs off some bushes.

image

The right hand rod with be along this tree line, or maybe in the entrance to the other part of the lake though a gap.  There are two,  so I am still undecided on which spot.

image

Both rods have had a good few large spombs over the top, with a good mix up of ground bait, pellets, 14mm, 18nm whole and broken up boilies and a few tiger nuts mixed in.  All of these will keep the carp interested.

image

What carp could resisted that?

Well finally after 2 tench and a bream, I banked a nice hard fight carp.  This fish must have more or less taken the bag on the drop.  I had decided that after the last tench, my bait was not quite right, so I re-baited with fresh bait – a small bag of broken Poloni.  After a perfect shot under the trees and as I turned to walk back to the bivvy (after setting the bobbin), the rod was away.

18lb 10oz Common

There was a beautiful sunset tonight as well.

I weighed one of the tench and it was 5 lb 14 oz, not bad.

At around 1 am I had my second carp of the trip, an even harder fighting 15 lb 10 oz common.  This proved harder to get in the net than the 18!  These fish in here never give up!

With the alarm clock going off at 5 am, it gives me plenty of time to have a brew and watch the lake before I need to be off by 0645.  This was all the action I had, not bad really.

Till next time

Trip No 34 Carp Fishing (2015)

I am out again for a quick 4 hr session.  I should be decorating the house while the kids are at school,  however the weather looked good and I was feeling lucky.

I am in one of the day swims, just flicking the bags along the margin.  No buzzers needed, just wait for the line to zip off.  Both rods have fluorocarbon line on which sinks to the bottom and with a 2 ft pcs of mimick leadcore, the fish should be happy and not spooked.

Both rods have bags on full of poloni boilies and ground bait and glued in poloni oil. What fish could resist that?  Hopefully none.

Well, despite seeing the fish move up and down the margin tree line.  None were willing to feed today.

Trip No 33 Carp Fishing (2015)

I have dropped the kids of at school and I am down the lake.  I am in 1 of the day margin swim’s by 10.00.  Not too shabby. This means I have until 14.00 to get a fish in the net,  hopefully that will happen.

Basically, I have two bags on full of broken Poloni boilies and some Bait-Tech pellets soaked in Poloni oil.

One is a Pop up and the other is a bottom bait,  both fished in the margins under the tree’s.

Well my 4 hours was up and I need to collect the kid’s from school.  Unfortunately, the weather report was a bit out and it had turned into a lovely summers day.  In hindsight I should have taken my floater stuff.  However, I am trying to cut down what I take and days like this make me think – just bring it all.

Trip No 32 Carp Fishing

I am out for two nights this weekend, which is nice.

image

I have picked a swim which gives me access to a few good features.  Such as overhanging trees, pads, reeds on the left hand margin and in the open water, nice clear spots up-against weed beds.  All carpy type features.

Day – Night 1

It was all quiet on the first night, despite seeing fish and the conditions be perfect.  I was full of confidence that something would happen, hey, that’s fishing for you.  A bit of a rethink is needed may be?.

At around 1000 hrs, I redid all my rods and changed one of the rod’s to a bottom bait.  I left the others as pop ups.  There is a fair amount of weed in this lake, my plan was to rebait now and only reel in at home time tomorrow, unless (and I hope) a fish picks up one of my baits.

Night & day – 2

There was a bit of rain early evening, the sun came out for a perfect evening and with night closing in, the mist appeared and the lake looked a perfect carp anglers post card,  just stunning.

I had been having beeps a lot of the night (on and off).  At 0550 the middle rod was off, it was attached to a very unhappy carp.  It proceeded to weed me up twice and nearly bury itself in the pads to the right of me and take the left hand rod out.  All good fun.  Finally this hard fighting fully was in the net.  Not the largest fish, however, only my second from this place.  This is an achievement, in itself, so I am chuffed.

image

A good sight for first thing in the morning.

image

Both rod’s were re-baited again with Bait-Tech Poloni boilies and mixed groundbait and pellet in the bags to combat the weed.

At around midday, it was time to reel in and head for home.

Till next time
