Trip No 103 Carp Fishing (2016)

With reports of the odd fish, coming out of the inland sea and the fact it will be closed at the end of September.  I have decided to slip a few trips in before then.

Lucky me I was the only one on tonight. With a quick set up done just before sunset. I took the opportunity to take some photographs.

                                                              Amazing view

I had baited with half a kilo of Catalyst boilies and was using a yellow and a pink dump pop up on a curved shank hook, tied to some semi stiff Fin Skin.

I stayed up until midnight watching TV on my phone with headphones, but was listening and watching for any signs of fish.

I find this works very well, otherwise I just drift off to sleep by 9 am.  Listing out especially this time of year, you can locate where the fish are hiding.

With the alarm sounding and the sun coming over the trees.

It was time to head home.

Until next time

Richard

Trip No 102 Carp Fishing (2016)

This is my first Sunday afternoon/night session for sometime.  Its quite nice to be back on the bank for more than my quick 5 hr day trip or even my sort 11 hrs night session.  It just allows you some time to zone into the lake, which I think most people would agree helps with any fishing.

All set up and one rod on the far margin and the other on a drop off from a bar, all with a kilo of Catalyst boilies over the top. I have changed one of my hook baits to a wafter and stuck to the Natural Pop Ups on the other.

Nice tree lined margins, that I have had a few carp from before (but later on in the year). As I am normaly still on the Airfield lake, however this year I have decided to come on here the first two weeks of September.  I will then move back for the last two weeks before it closes for winter at the end of the month.

Brolly up and all set for a toasted sandwich, or two and a brew.

Well, as I write this its 0530, I have had another bream and I am wondering where I have gone wrong on the carp front, the weather is spot on.  It realistically can only be location location, as the rigs are fine. Casting and baiting was spot on, the bream love the area. I will have a rethink and come back in a couple of days, however it looks like I can only get out on the most hottest day of this week.  May well switch to day sessions, rather than one night, which will give me more options and will help get a fell for the lake.

Until next time

Richard

Trip No 101 Carp Fishing (2016)

With the weather looking way too hot this week for day sessions and the need for a few more nights out on the water.

This corner is still looking perfect and the other areas where occupied.

I flicked the baits out into the same spots as before and catapult out another kilo of Catalyst boilies.  Unfortunately, the bream found the baits before the carp.

And with the alarm clock sounding at 0545, it was time to head home again.

Until next time

Richard

Trip 100 Carp Fishing (2016)

This house husband thing has given me an amazing opportunity to pick and choose when I go fishing.  My results have also show this, now I am on a well made bait, with top quality ingredients and no compromise.

When I arrived, the sun was setting and the light that this bring is fantastic.

I flicked one down the right hand margin to a known spot, the other rod was going to be fished in open water.  Unfortunately, where I haven’t done so well on in this lake.  However, I have seen fish there a number of times and its only a matter of getting the perfect spot.

With a good helping of Catalyst boilies, both rod’s had Natural Pop Ups on Turn Point  Hooks with stiff Fin Skin hooklinks.

At around 1 am, my left hand rod was off and attached to a fish, who was determined to make it into the nearby tree lined margins.  The fish made it there, despite my quick reaction in picking the rod and sinking the tip and keeping the pressure on. I re-baited and got my head down for only a few minutes before the bream arrived in my swim. I suppose I should be happy with a take on my first trip out for sometime.

0630 reel in time and the rods are left until last, in the hope a carp will come along instead of a bream.

Until next time

Richard

Trip No 99 Carp Fishing (2016)

I didn’t think I would make it out this week, we are off on our annual two week’s family holiday.  The weather was also looking rubbish for fishing.  After getting a text from a friend, saying he was down the lake for a couple of nights and if I fancied a social.  After checking the weather again and finding that a rain front was pushing though overnight.  I thought that it must be worth a go.  Most of the packing was done for our walking adventure in the lake district, which included a fair few trips to Go Outdoors, to kit out the kid’s.

I found myself set up and feeling very confident with my spot.  My friend had already bagged a carp in the afternoon, the weather front was clearly on its way.

I woke up to a couple of of bleeps around 0230, I sat up for a bit listening to the odd fish top.  I even spotted the odd one close to my baited area and fell back to sleep thinking one of my rod’s will be away soon.

Well, to say I was shocked to wake up to the alarm clock at 6 am was an understatement.

Oh well.  As I now have a couple of weeks away, I would not be back on the lakes until September.  I just love that time of year and leading on to October.

Until them, be lucky

Richard
