Trip No 137 Carp Fishing (2016)

After my success the other night and a few fish topping though the night.  I have moved along the bank, in line with where the fish were showing (in a hope to nick a couple of bites today).  It will also be good to see if there are any signs of the fish still, as I am back at the weekend.

It’s one of the only swims that give you the possibility to see 75% of the lake.

The levels are up on the lake now and will be until March time.

Both rod’s have small bags filled with chopped Catalyst boilies soaked in the Food Dip and for a boost, I have poured some in the bags.  They both have Pop Ups on as well, to eliminate the Chod factor.

Unfortunately no joy and no Carp spotted.

Until next time

Richard

Trip No 136 Carp Fishing(2016)

After my very uneventful 4 hrs early on today and no signs of fish, the only option was the far end of the lake.  I was unable to see these area from my swim today.

The traps were set on the normal spots for this swim.  My plan was to stay up late and listen out for any signs of fish in an attempt to pin point their location.  I would be back again for a day trip on Thursday.

I sat listening and heard a couple of fish in the distance, but I am not 100% sure where they were.

At about 2330, the right hand rod was off and as I pulled into the fish, its behaviour was like a bream.  With lots of head shaking, clearly not a happy carp and once safely in the net, I was quite happy, even though it was a small carp (around the 14lb mark), I still took a photograph.

Worth a photo.

I sat up until around 0100 and heard a couple more fish and thought that I had  better move my other rod into that area of the lake.  I quickly needed to make up a new bag with chopped Catalyst boilies, soaked in the Food Dip, into a small PVA bag.  I then added some food dip (to turbo charge it) and after that I thought I had better get my head down for a couple  of hours (before home time).  It was all too soon when the alarm clock sounded and it was time to pack up.  But even before I started to pack up, the same rod as before was off and into another carp.

Which certainly made my night, after these hard conditions we have been having

Trip No 135 Carp Fishing (2016)

With a change in the weather yesterday and a mild spell over this week. I have turned my attention back to the Carp.  I hope that the change in conditions will switch them onto feeding mode.

It was a foggy start to the day, but it was better on the lake than at home.  Which was nice. I am hoping to spot some fish, as I am attempting to work out their location for tonight’s overnight session.

A slight breeze cleared the fog. Am only using one rod today, as I don’t like to much disturbance when I am only here for a few hours.  I have got a Frank Warwick  Fruit zing pop up with a bag of my Stix Mix and a hand full of chopped Catalyst boilies soaked in the Food Dip, for added attraction.  I cast to the end of the left hand bush, with the clutch up tight, so I don’t allow the fish any chance to get under and along the margins.

With not a single sign of any fish, I packed up 45 minutes early and had a walk round.  I has a chat to another syndicate member.  Unfortunately, he was blanking and had also seen no fish.  So not really sure where I will end up tonight.

Until then

Richard

Trip No 134 Carp Fishing (2016)

With the weather not that perfect but Christmas is just around the corner, I take every opportunity that I can, to go fishing (you have to be in it to win it).

I have settled on this very warm and calm bay, which has plenty of snaggy area’s for the Carp to lay low on.  I just need to tempt them out, get them to have a snack and bag myself a Carp.

It going to be  hard one, but you never know, I had a quick chat with a couple of syndicate members who were just off home – they had had enough.  There has been no Carp out all week and I was the only person left out here and feeling quite confident as normal.  I baited the far margins with 2mm catalyst pellets mixed up with corn and go2 groundbait, a good bit of Catalyst food dip and liquid salmon.  Both rod’s have pop ups on, with a scattering of chopped boilies and a small bag filled with the same.

I woke to a very frosty morning and not a single bleep in the night.  I had a good walk around before I departed and scattered a bit of bait in some likely spots for my trip in the week.

Until next time

Trip No 133 Pike Fishing (2016)

I was after the pike again today, with the help of a friend, who also kindly provided a cuppa tea, a warm sausage roll and a pike on the bank – cheers Ian.  We fished a nice back water area, leading onto the main river, both using deadbaiits.

Nice one Ian
