Trip 2 Pike Fishing 2017

With a lovely frost this morning, there was no where else to be, other than Pike fishing on the Hampshire Avon.

The scenery today was stunning with a fantastic air frost.

I moving in the same areas as yesterday, as I feel it is a good opportunity to get to know that part of the river.

My first spot resulted on a 8/9 lb Pike.

And then I continued to move around the river until pack up time.  It was time for my first school run of 2017 and it’s all back to normal until half term.

Despite making many stops on likely areas, I only managed the one pike today.

Until next time

Richard

Trip 1 Pike Fishing 2017

I fancied a bit of walking today and tomorrow, to blow the cobwebs away.  Therefore, I felt a spot of Pike fishing would do the trick nicely.

First of many stops.

After roaming the banks for some 4 hours, I was rewarded by a lost pike (which felt good) and them my spreader block broke, which I always thought was metal – apparently not.

Until next time.

Trip No 146 Carp Fishing (2016)

This is it then, the last trip of 2016.

I arrived down the lake in the dark, only to find 7 other angler’s with the same thoughts as myself.  The pressure had dropped a bit as well, this was by far the warmest night so far and it was the weekend.  Luckily for me, there was a swim that put me near the area that I believe had some of the lakes residents held up in.  So with two bags on and my line clipped up from my notes the other year.  I put out the bags (which I had filled with some stick mix, broken Catalyst boilies and 10ml of food dip), with Natural Pop Ups on to the spots.  With the volume of people, I was not going to be putting any other bait out.  I was hoping that the added attraction would out do the other angler’s and I would bag myself one last fish of 2016!

I awoke to a very still misty morning with not a single bleep in the night.  After a chat with a few other anglers, who where still there when I packed up – we were all in the same boat, oh well.

Until next year.

Trip No 145 Carp Fishing (2016)

Can’t help myself, just had to have one last go, before Christmas.

Night time set up, but I don ‘t need to be home until noon tomorrow as its Christmas Eve and then home for a family walk with some friends and their kids.

Nice and tidy just how I like it.  I have fed the mice, otherwise they will be running all over me again.  Just hope that after my blank the other night (despite plenty of signs of fish), the rain today has not put them off, we shall just have to see.

Also the damn midges are about – looks like we are in for the same sort of Winter as last year; wet, stormy and very warm.  I hope it doesn’t put a stop to my Pike fishing again.

Well my efforts where rewarded with Bream last night.

At 10 am with no other action, it was time to head home and let the festivities begin.

I was having a chat with one of the members, after all my stuff was in the car and would you believe it?  A carp stuck its head out twice, just where I had been fishing!  At least I know were the fish where, in my swim!  Until next time

Trip No 144 Carp Fishing (2016)

After a fantastic long weekend away with the family on Dorset.

I am back out after those Carp again.  With it being school holiday’s, I am restricted to nights only until next year.  Which isn’t a bad thing, as I get to spend a bit more time with the family and it’s Christmas – which is great fun.

I believe that I am the only one on here tonight.  I had a quick chat with a day angler on his way home and that was it.

I have gone back to the same area as the last fish I caught – this is my best option I feel.  I am unable to visit in the day time and I will stay up quite late listening out for fish, they appear to only show themselves at night at the moment.

Both rods have small bags with a handful of chopped boilies soaked Catalyst food dip and Natural Pop Ups on.

I stayed up quite late and was awake in the night.  There were a few fish in the area. However none of them graced my net.

Until next time
