Few Hours On The Bank Today

Trip 13 Pike Fishing – 2018

On the Hampshire Avon Today, with my friend Ian after the pike. We are going to be roving around but will be using the Deeper Pro Plus to locate bait fish in any likely spots.

The first area yielded no pike, so we headed of down stream to another area we thought would be good.

We did find a very favourable spot which contained a lots of fish and a couple of very big readings. The yellow areas are fish as I have turned off the fish icon to be able to learn and understand the sonar.

We ended up staying there as every time I ran the Deeper over the area, the fish were still there! Around 1300, Ian’s rod was off and into a very nice pike but as luck would have it, the pike ejected the hooks. To say he was not happy a happy camper was an understatement – that’s just the way it rolls sometimes. We did prove that there was a pike in the swim and I am sure if it was not for the Deeper we would have moved on, which would have been silly as clearly there was bait fish and pike in that area.

Unfortunately no videoing today as the wind was too strong and in our faces.

Trip 12 Pike Fishing 2018

With the realisation that the pike season is almost over and with hopefully the last cold snap of 2018, I am on the lake today after the pike.

My plan is to move around looking for the bait fish, using my Deeper and then picking up a pike, which is in the area.

I have been in 3 or 4 swims now and not had a touch from anything at all.

I am using mackerel & herring, injected with Spotted Fin’s salmon Oil to give added attraction. In the hope that the bigger pike will fancy a free meal.

Will it was not to be the case today.

Trip 11 Carp Fishing – 2018

With the weather so mild tonight there was only one place to be and that was not on the sofa!

It was down the lake of course! When I arrived there were more people than a Saturday morning – we all had the same idea, not surprising really.

With the Deeper in night mode, I was off.

It has the choice of an orange cap and with night mode switched on it flashes. This can easily been seen at a 100 yards, as I checked. I found a lovely feature to fish in this swim.

Now, that will do me nicely. The area is surrounded with much deeper water. Both rods are more or less in the same area. I baited up with a mixture of Smokey Jack & the Catalyst boilies. I fished a 12mm Natural Pop Ups on one rod and a Smokey Jack wafter on the other. I then set up camp.
