Trip 4 Carp Fishing – 2017

It’s been a week since my last trip (sounds like a confessional!), my dad has been down looking at options on where to live or if he fancies staying in Wales.  It has been a fruitful week in this respect and it has done him a world of good.  This is great news and has helped me lots as well.  But I now need to go and fish!

I’ve decided that Sunday nights are back in order.  After a nice big 40+ came out the other week, the weekends have gone a bit crazy.  I’ve found Sunday & Monday night to be very productive in the past, as the pressure from the weekend is released.

In all honestly, I didn’t really have a clue where to fish, as most swims had been fished over the weekend.  Also the lake was not looking particular fishy – probably as there were still a few anglers about.  We shall see if anything shows as night falls.

I opted for a swim which had some deep water and a good view of the lake.  I needed to get back in tune with it.

I was using 12mm  Catalyst pop ups on both rods.

One had a double hook bait and the other with an Evolution Carp Tackle maggot cluster.

Perfect combination of products.  I then Spombed out a small amount of  Spotted Fin new Pva friendly particles, with some 10mm catalyst boilies.  These had been soaked on the food dip, for a bit of added attraction.  This was all just in time before the rain arrived, which I was unaware that it was forecast, I was hoping for a bit of sunshine for once.

With no a sign of a carp, the night was very blowy night and it was also very warm , I was very hopeful.  It was not to be.

Until next time

Richard

Trip 3 Carp Fishing- 2017

It has been a bit too long between trips, I had a very ill daughter for a week and I then managed to pick up the flu again, which finished me off for another week. Last week, I had family stuff to do.  I was going regardless of the weather, the god of fishing was not listening to this and the weather took a noise dive!

Effort = reward as they say.  Luckily I had the chance to drive around mid morning today, so I had a good look and a chat if anyone was about.  There was not a soul who was crazy enough.  I had decided on the bank I needed to fish based on the wind direction.  This gave me plenty of swims to choose from when I got back around 7 pm.

Morning arrived, with no action in the night.  I set about positioning the rods for the next 24 hours.  After markering around for just under an hour, I was happy with two spots, they were quite close to each other but at varying depths.

This will hopefully attracted a carp into picking up my hook bait – a FW medical berry wafter with a washed out maggot cluster.  The other rod has a Masala  Pops ups pop up on, I am going for a bit of colour this weekend and I have also Spombed out a small amount of Spotted Fin new particle range.

With that combination I am hoping to tempt a fish or two.  I even got a bit of sunshine!

Was hoping for a bit more to warm up the tree line this afternoon.

With no joy over night it was time for a wet pack up.

No carp this time out but it was very nice to be back on the bank again.

Until next time
