I have now been using this for just over the weekend and it’s pretty amazing bit of kit and will aid anyone’s fishing. I have purely been using it as a mapping tool and depth finder at the moment. The weather has not been helpful on this front. Way to much rain for me to stand out in. I’m not that crazy anymore!

This image picked up a lovely slope, with a couple of nice edges where fish would patrol along. A perfect spot for a bait.

This screen shot has picked out a couple of depressions in the lake. Another perfect spot and unless you were extremely luckily, you would never find them with a marker float set up.

This final screen shot depicts a steady incline from 11ft up to 9.4ft, again is another likely area that fish would patrol along.
I have been casting the Deeper out and once I found the perfect spot, I flicked the marker out and retrieved the Deeper. I then cast a lead to the spot and clipped up, as I clearly don’t want to hit the Deeper with a lead! This is also a good way to get accurate baiting up with the Catapult or spomb.

I have also started to map out the lake a bit and play around with the online map feature. (I need more work on this part)
Some of you will say it’s cheating but I say it’s embracing modern technology. All people do in one shape or form e.g cars, phone, camera’s, t.v’s etc, so why not fishing tackle? If angler’s in the past not done this, we would still be using Heron buzzers and Argos chairs. With the modern day pace of live, this gadget will safe you time and put more fish on the bank, that’s got to be a plus on my book.

Hope this is a help

The weather forecast is looking pretty shocking on the wind/rain front. There is also a rise in the temperature and the pressure is at 1009 mb. It was looking good for a fish or two but I needed to get to the lake before the rain! The rain was looking to arrive first thing Saturday morning, so me arriving before the rain was just not going to happen. I did feel, it was defiantly worth it. I also have the added bonus of my new toy – in the shape of a Deeper pro plus. To say I was keen as mustard was an understatement. I did manage to get an early release from the family, I was in the car quicker than a ferret up a drain pipe!

Once I got down there, it looked like every one else fancied their chances. Who could blame them? I think there was 3 anglers on Friday night and by noon on Saturday we where up to 8! The swims are well spaced out and I had gone for an area away from most. I felt this swim had the potential to hold fish. The wind was pushing hard, so I also felt I needed to be on the back of the wind.
I got the Deeper out and had a cast about. I found some very pukka spots.

A nice dip down in a very flat lake bed is the perfect spot, it also had a little weed mixed in. I flicked the market rod out and popped it up near to the deeper area and out of interest tried to find this spot. The marker rod is not that accurate (hard as we try). I spomb out 4 large loads of a mixture of Particle and 2mm Catalyst Pellets.

I had added some Minamino and Betafin liquid to the mix yesterday afternoon when I made the mix up. This was in order to give it plenty of time to soak the goodness in. I fished a cut down Frank Warwick miracle berry Wafters with a washed out Maggot Cluster over this and a small stix mix bag. I then proceeded to do the same with the other rod but this time I used a snowman set up.

Both rods where fished similar depths as I felt the deeper the better for this time of the year. I then set about mapping a bit of the lake.

And even found a fish! I just need to hope my ground work does its work! We shall have to see.
The afternoon and the night past, the wind and the rain pushed through. It was quiet on the buzzer front. I woke up to bright sunshine with a windy shower on its way.

I had another play with the Deeper, I am going to love that bit of kit.

Some will say it’s cheating but I say it’s embracing modern technology. All people do in one shape or form e.g Cars, phone, camera’s, t.v’s etc, so why not fishing tackle I say? With the sun out and drying things, it’s time to pack up and head home.
Until next time

I am out today on the Hampshire Avon and it’s a perfect winters morning. Hopefully, I may just bag a pike or two. The river is well high and it’s making things a bit difficult, but there is always a way around it.

I’m planning on giving it about 45 minutes in each spot today. We shall see where we go from there.
Both rods are baited with mackerel at the moment, I may change one over to herring later.

My second spot of the day. There is a lot more slack water here, so you never know. I have seen another angler parked up and headed down river. Not sure what he’s after, as I could only just see him cross the fields. I may head down that way later on.
After a few more spots, I ended up in my final one and still hoping for a bite. The wind has freshened up some what and it was pretty cold (unless you could find a nice sheltered area).

A spot just like this!
I’ve had pike from here before, can’t wait to get my Deeper pro on the river. I have so little time on my day trips, it will reduce the amount of time I spend in a area. This will enable me to move on to other spots looking for the pike.
That was a surprise, I was hoping for at least one Jack or something. Oh well.
Until Next Time
