Trip 19 Carp Fishing- 2018

For this trip, I was doing two nights and I was being joined by a friend on the second night.  The conditions when I arrived at the lake is what can only be described as stormy.

The centre of the rain storm was passing right over me.  Like any normal angler, I started to have a look round.  The swim choice was a bit reduced, we were planning on a ‘good old’ social on Saturday night.  This gave me the option of a few good swims and I was hoping that the weather may put other anglers off tonight.  When I arrived, 3 of the swims had already gone.  After speaking to another member who had spotted fish in front of him, this wasn’t too far away from where I had caught my last two fish.  I headed for the corner swim in the hope they may be still about, if this wasn’t the case, they must not be far away.

The night passed with plenty of wind and rain and a few liners (probably due to that).  Saturday morning was a different day completely.  No wind, a tiny bit of rain and a little hope of sunshine to warm the lake up.

My friend turned up before 11 and had to set up in the rain, which was a bit unfortunate.  He did find some nice spots that he was happy with.

I was treated to a Tench around mid-afternoon and as evening fell upon us, the sun came out again.

I had re-baited the right-hand rod which was now the left and flicked a bait into the corner.  This is where I have had a few fish before from and catapulted a load of chopped up Smokey Jack boilies over the top. I was fishing an Fw miracle berry Wafters with a washed yellow maggot cluster, I was sticking to the Masala Pops ups   on the other rod.  I had also topped up the swim with a few spombs of chopped Smokey Jack as well.

The night passed without a bleep and was woken by a cool easterly breeze blowing in my face.

Another nice morning and may be lucky in the last few hours.

It was not to be

Deeper Pro Plus Hints & Tips – Mapping Feature – P6

Another great feature of the Deeper is the ability to view your data that you have mapped out, either on your own personal computer or tablet, on the Lakebook map page.

You can rename each download, by clicking on the Info button and highlighting the recording you wish to rename.

You have the ability to view the full record of your mapping as one big map or the individual recordings you made if each swim.

On the individual recording, you can access the sonar feature of each area you have mapped.

You also have the ability to measure the distance to your favourite spot.  This can be done using map or satellite mode.

I find the satellite mode quite helpful as you can find your horizon markers.

You can access the depths as well.

You will need to set your Deeper to shore mode and create an account on the lake bed page. https://maps.deepersonar.com

I hope you found this very helpful in your Deeper journey.

Until next time

Stuck At Home

When I was stuck at home last week and the kids where fed up with the snow, I took the opportunity to get some new line on my spools all set for the coming weeks.

Line Replacement Time

A very overlooked part of fishing is replacing your line regular, you may think it cost a lot, but with the cost of reels and bivvy these days £15 on line twice a year is nothing and if not done could cost you a fish or evern a PB.

Hope this helps
