Trip No 49 Carp Fishing (2014)

I am out on the lake again.  Unfortunately, I have had to set up in the dark, as work was not kind today!  Can’t win them all, hence no photos.

Here is one from the other week.  I have set up over the other side of the lake.  My friend fished the other night and saw some movement along this margin.
Both rod’s have pop ups with small mesh bag, this has homemade stick mix, eg a blend of bait-tech ground bait mixed up with plenty of liquid attractions.  They also have a couple of handfuls of boilies over the top.  I have both rod’s in the margin, one up to the right and other down to the left of me, with plenty of room to play the fish.  I am also set up at the top of the swim (to reduce any bankside noise that I may make).

With another good night’s sleep on the bank and the alarm going off at 0615, it was time to pack up and head for the office.

Till next Time

Trip No 48 Carp fishing (2014)

I am out on the lake for a quick mid week session. I have managed to get off work early today.  This has given me some time to have a look round.  I feel that I have choosen a good swim.

All done just before last light.

I have one rod to the right, up the margin on a nice clear area.  It has a couple of handfuls of boillies over the top.  The other rod is in the middle of the lake where I have had some fish from recently. I also put out a couple of pouchful’s with the caterpult.
Both rod’s are on pop up rigs, as the trees are dropping their leaves all over the place, as it does at this time of the year!
Time for my stew and a cupper and then off to bed and see what the night brings.

Yet again, I had a nice uninterupted nights sleep.

Oh well,

Till next time

Richard

Trip No 47 Carp Fishing (2014)

Lucky me, out fishing on a Saturday night and I am the only one on the lake.  Unfortunatly, the water tempreture is very low, 8 C in fact.

It’s looking very Autumy out here.

One rod is over the far margin, in the dead pads.  The other is also in the dead bits to my right.

Both rod’s have had 3 pouches full of bait put over the top & both rods are being fished pop up’s.  This is due to the volume of fallen leaves.

It has not stopped raining over night and the water level has gone up again.

Unfortuntaly, no joy on the carp front.

Till next time

Trip No 46 Pike Fishing (2014)

It’s November and I thought to myself, its about time I got the Pike rod’s out again.  Today, I have a guest with me and so being a fishing gentleman, I have given him the choice of swim and section of the river.  Plus, it would be a good opportunity for me to start looking for some nice Pike fishing areas, the water levels have gone up after all this rain.  I did wonder if I should have taken the barbel kit instead.

Both rod’s were placed in a nice slow part of the river, where the Pike would lay up for a rest and so would the bait fish.
My bait choices today are between Mackerel, Herring and small Trout.  I have also brought along my plug box along as well.

The sun is finally making some progress with the fog slowly.

It would be nice to warm up a bit before the rain arrives back later.

Well, I have been up and down the river, with no luck and this is still looking like my best option and the rain on it’s way.  I have pitched up where I started this morning, for the last 3 hours or so.

Unfortunately, no joy today.  I will be back again after the Pike soon.

Trip No45 River Fishing (2014)

Unfortunately, with work and other things, I have not been out for some weeks.  As I am taking a guest on the river in a week’s time,  I thought it best I take a look.  My only free day was going to be hot and sunny.  This weather is a bit odd, today is the 1st of November and it’s 8am and I am sitting in my t-shirt!  Can’t complain, however, this is going to make the fishing hard work,  but lovely and warm  ; -).

image

My first choice of swim, was in deeper water and as the sun was shining bright all day,  I though it a good place to start. There was a bit of colour in the water, after all the rain we have had.  Saying this, the water level had dropped as there had been little or no weed growth this year (this is due to all the flooding we have had over the past two winters).

image

After 4 hours without any signs of fish, I ended up spending 4 hours looking around the whole syndicate from top to bottom.  I have found some very interesting areas for this Winters pike fishing trips and some carpy looking areas too.  Unfortunately, no signs of barbel and by this time I had knew it was time to head home.

Taking a good look round, will help you to gain more knowledge of you water and has great benefits to your fishing.

Till next time
