Our users frequently ask if Deeper sonars

Our users frequently ask if Deeper sonars can be used on a bait boat. 🛥 Initially, they were not specifically designed to be used with RC bait boats, and even though it is possible, you may experience strong interference, especially if the bait boat uses 2.4 GHz connection.
💡 TIP: For the best results, make sure that your mobile data, as well as Wi-Fi+/Smart Network Switch/ Wi-Fi Assist (name differs, depending on Your smartphone) are switched off – these smartphone features can automatically shut down connection with the Deeper.

How Deeper Premium Works

How Deeper Premium can help you with your fishing. If you don’t own a Deeper Sonar but like the concept of being able to arrive at a lake for the day or a couple of nights, with already having an understanding of the bathymetry of the lake in your pocket, the ability to have studied the lake, measured the number of wraps and worked out a few horizon markers, before you have set foot on the lake.

Some anglers don’t like this and believe it can take the fun out of fishing or even the possibility that watercraft is redundant knowledge. I say that there are many different types of watercraft. The only thing I can see is that it’s taking away the time spent chucking a maker float about for a few hours, maybe a bit excessive, but the point is when you are using your maker float to know what you are looking for and where it is, disturbs the water and feeding fish. Using a Deeper reduces this disturbance and clearly save you time. For the everyday angler, this is a must feature and I don’t believe it takes away any watercraft. For the other anglers who complain about other anglers thrashing the water looking for spots, I’m sure they would be happier and are probably the same people that don’t like people using a Deeper Sonar!

In some respects, watercraft starts at home with studying the weather and whereabouts the wind will be blowing on the water, what effect this has on the carp, which end of the lake they may be in – in a cold easterly, there may be an island they may be sheltered behind and where the winter sunshine may be warming up those corners and bays. All this can be done in the comfort of your home and I personally believe that this is a crucial part of watercraft.

Watercraft at the lake can still be utilized even with the aid of your Fishdeeper Premium account, it’s a simple and extra tool in your armory.

Let me give you an example, October this year, I had 2 social sessions planned on waters that I’ve never seen and were a few 100 miles away. I had no chance of visiting them for a walk around, so I booted up the computer, logged in to my account, and searched for the lake a make sure the global bathymetry icon was on.

With both these maps, you have the opportunity to see the depths of the lake – by clicking on the spot you are interested in and then measuring the distance from the swim to that point on the map. All you have to do is work out the number of wraps needed. I was able to study both lakes before I arrived and worked out which swims would be best also taking weather forecasts into consideration. I did this so I could understand where the carp may be located. A big southerly had been blowing for a good few weeks beforehand, there was every chance of the carp being on the back of the wind unless it dramatically changed a few days before. The features are the same as you get with having your own Deeper Sonar, with the exception of recording your own readings and being able to see the actual makeup of the lake bed e.g. gravel, weed, etc.

This doesn’t mean that when you get to the lake, you don’t use your watercraft knowledge or even spend a couple of hours looking about and watching for the fish. It simply means that when you’re happy you are in the right area, you know what’s in front of you. Armed with this information you can get your baits on the spots with the knowledge that you understand the bathymetry of the water in front of you, without the need to spend an hour with the marker float. Flicking a lead about can be time-consuming and possibly spook the fish out of your swim, but if you know where a gravel bar, hump, the channel may be located and the ability to know the number of wraps will reduce the probability of spooking fish.

I hope this goes to put any doubts to rest over Deeper products.

Until next time

Richard

Trip 4 Carp Fishing – 2022

School Lake time comes around sooner than expected, it’s a bit fresh and frosty today. There is some tree work going on down the other end.

It’s the island for me to start with today. I’ve chucked out a bit of pellet around the island and then in a few swims down to my right, this is so I can keep an eye out for any carpy signs.

It all kicked off about 9.30 with three takes in quick succession; two to the right-hand rod and one to the middle. It was a bit hectic for about an hour and I even checked the left-hand rod, I was sure the tip had knocked at one point.

At this point, I still hadn’t had any coffee or any breakfast I bring along. I was still watching the swims I had baited up, you always need to be aware of wants going on.

I had no more action. I had every intention of moving if I spotted anything but I started listening to the Thinking Tackle podcast and realized it was 1.15 and I wanted to be gone by 2 pm. I had a bit of kit to sort out for my next syndicate trip.

Oh well, three carp. I can’t complain about that.

Until next time

Richard
