With the temperatures

With the temperatures on the rise again through this week and going into next week finding those shallows are a must!

Whether it’s humps or bumps, marginal shelves or corner bays the carp aren’t going to be far away!

With the use of your sonar you can easily identify these areas and get your rigs in position as the Carp patrol these shallow spots!

Keeping ahead of the game

I like to keep ahead of the game by boosting up my baits, I find this gives you a little edge over other anglers, I don’t go crazy with adding 100 millilitres of flavour, I keep it pretty straightforward, however, I let them soak up the flavour over long periods, I have several 3 kg tubs, plus a large 10kg bucket that I mix 10ml Classic Corn or Catalyst food dip, into whichever boilie I’m favouring at the time, plus a tablespoon of Berrocel into each 3 kg bucket and shack it around every day, for a week then transfer it into the large buckets, which is now ready to sit until I need it, which I then transfer into 2 small ridge monkey buckets for my next trip out, I do this every time I get home to keep the supply rolling along throughout the year.

I use shelf-life boilies this day and Berrocel starts breaking them down quicker and makes them go nice and sticky, by the time I get to use them down the lake, I  like to boost the flavour levels a bit, as I tend to fish silty water’s and this will give me a clear edge over others.

This is all part of a routine I have gotten into over the year, Instead of getting home and sorting out my tackle just before my next session, I actually prefer to do this when I get home because it actually makes it simpler.

When I’m on the lake and something gets used up, like dropping leads, fresh hook, or end tackle, I take a note of it on my phone and use this when I get home, I even add ideas to this list of things to change sort of or bring in the car just in case, I keep all the extra bucket of bait, pellets, PVA bags, mesh, spare some all in my car, theses no actually point in bringing then all the way to your swim even time, the same with extra leads and various hook bait choices, that all stays in the car, just in case I need it.

This actually helps with the quantity of kit you take, as we all carry why too much, just in case you need it, kit, which I’ve written about before.

hope this helps

Richard
