Deeper Pro Plus – Hints & Tips

I have been using the Deeper Pro Plus for some time and I have put together a few tips which may help you get more from your Deeper.

1. When you cast out and are mapping the lake, the Deeper will take a few seconds for the GPS to lock on each time – check the GPS icon has changed from orange to green.

2. If you reel in too fast, you can create a false reading for the depth on the Deeper.

As you can see from the middle part of the screen shot that the Deeper been pulled down into the water.

3. If the Deeper doesn’t auto connect, you can manual do this via Setting –

manage Deepers –

Refresh & then Connect, in most instances this will have already happen.

About richardhandel

I would like to give a brief snap shot of my life and introduce myself; My name is Richard Handel and was born in 1965 in Suffolk. I have worked as a UK Operation & Intermodule Manager for a shipping company. I live in Hampshire now and am married with 2 young children, both girls so I am a bit outnumbered even the cat is a girl! I have been fishing since I was about 7 years old. I started on small local rivers in Suffolk, then moved onto gravel pits and then carp fishing. My personal best is a 39.08 mirror, over recent years I have started river fishing again, on the Hampshire Avon, this is a nice break from the carp lakes. My life has turned a big corner this year, the company I was working for relocated their Operation centre to Estonia. I was offered a job at the head office in London. This would have meant a 5 day commute and working in Stratford. As a family, we did not fancy this, as I would hardly spend any time with the children (and the Mrs). So after 22.5 years, I was given a nice redundancy package and with my wife is working full time. I became the house husband. This has meant a complete turn around in my fishing, as I can pick and choose when I go. I have found a splendid new syndicate to fish this year, which includes 5 lakes and some 8 miles of river with only 150 members. It's an amazing change to the way I am able to fish. I am now trying to start my own tackle business and make a bit of a name for myself in the world of fishing, as I have retired from real work. Richard

Hi Richard, just thought I’d give you and Andy an update. I fished all day Saturday and didn’t have a thing, not a touch, so disappointing but it was very very warm. I think I really need a deeper to get amongst the fish so I have had a chat to my wife and fortunately she’s been given some back dated disability living allowance so I’ve decided to use half of it. It seems it’s an essential piece of kit these days with all you top lads using it, I just hope it’s as easy to use as you make it look in your blogs. At 73 I’m not the best with all this new fangeld tech!!!

    • Hi Clive, it’s always best to understand watercraft and the lake bed, I use the deeper to speed up this process, you will still need to understand how fish behave around features and where they will go. I would hold back on the deeper until you have this understanding of your lake. Must say it’s way to hot for fishing, well certainly for me at the moment. The greatest tool for fishing is observation, it worth spend a few hours looking and watching, not just the fish, but other anglers. Good luck Richard

Clive, take Richards advice and hold back, if you look back through Richards blogs you will see he caught far more fish before he started using his deeper!! You don’t need one mate.

    • Thanks for point that out Andy, Lol, just having one off years, but you never know with fishing, the last half of the year could make it by far my best season for a long time.

Too late I’ve ordered one, just think it’s going to save me so much time lads, the fact you can see if there’s fish in your swim or not is going to stop the constant blanks. All the other stuff like watercraft I will pick up as I go but if this gadget will let me see where they are I’ll remember for next time. I must admit I’m really excited at the prospect, especially the proverbial poke in the eye for those lake regulars that have been less than helpful when I’ve asked for advice!
Thanks again lads hopefully next week I can tell you that I’ve broken my duck with a biggun!

    • Hi Clive, just remember that the fish may well be passing through the area, you still need some form of feature to hold the fish there, on of my other Deeper blogs mentions this, look for snags, pads, humps, dips, bar, platues weed etc. The other thing is if the lake is close by go down for one afternoon, everning and watch where they are casting, count the number of wraps the are using. It’s a real shame that they are not willing to help you out, as I find that very strange because if I point someone in the right direction and they catch a fish, I know I was right and it’s useful information, for you to use yourself, it’s like you are using them to fish for you. Funny game this fishing, I look at it as it’s us against the Carp and not each other. Good luck Richard
