Trip No 26 Carp Fishing (2015)

Wow, Summer has well and truly started today, 22 degrees here down in Hampshire this afternoon.  Not 100% perfect carp fishing weather, did try the floaters for 10 minutes, before the seagulls spotted it (aarrrgh).  Anyway, as I only arrived at 1830, I thought it best to get all sorted for the night, have a brew, soak up my surroundings and may be a few photos.

I have picked a nice swim within a small wood, which is quiet a nice area.  The fish move through here to very to the bottom bay.  I have been meaning to fish this area for some time, however, every time I feel it’s right, someone else has beaten me to it, not this time  🙂

For the time being, I have a rod out near the point of the island.  This is the point at which they enter this part of the lake, the other rod will be in the margins to the right of me,  with a good load of ground bait and Bait- tech Poloni boilles.

Looking out towards both islands.

Well, what a night that was.  For all the wrong reasons, the mosquitoes came out to terrorise me and boy did they.  I hardly slept at all and when I did I have a take, I managed to lose the fish.  Not sure why but as I was so sleepy, I can’t remember what happened other than the hook pulled.  It could be due to the rig I am playing with at the moment, I just have to see on the next take, hey.

I have to go home and do the school run, but as the weather is more favourable, I am coming back for a day trip.  I am going to bait up before I leave, come back and fish the same spots as the wind is nicely pushing into this bank.

Does look good

Unfortunately, all I got was a hook pull from a carp trying to go round the corner of the island, oh joy,

Till next time

About richardhandel

I would like to give a brief snap shot of my life and introduce myself; My name is Richard Handel and was born in 1965 in Suffolk. I have worked as a UK Operation & Intermodule Manager for a shipping company. I live in Hampshire now and am married with 2 young children, both girls so I am a bit outnumbered even the cat is a girl! I have been fishing since I was about 7 years old. I started on small local rivers in Suffolk, then moved onto gravel pits and then carp fishing. My personal best is a 39.08 mirror, over recent years I have started river fishing again, on the Hampshire Avon, this is a nice break from the carp lakes. My life has turned a big corner this year, the company I was working for relocated their Operation centre to Estonia. I was offered a job at the head office in London. This would have meant a 5 day commute and working in Stratford. As a family, we did not fancy this, as I would hardly spend any time with the children (and the Mrs). So after 22.5 years, I was given a nice redundancy package and with my wife is working full time. I became the house husband. This has meant a complete turn around in my fishing, as I can pick and choose when I go. I have found a splendid new syndicate to fish this year, which includes 5 lakes and some 8 miles of river with only 150 members. It's an amazing change to the way I am able to fish. I am now trying to start my own tackle business and make a bit of a name for myself in the world of fishing, as I have retired from real work. Richard
