Trip No 3 (2014) Carp Fishing

I am out for two nights this time,  which I hope will give me a better chance of getting a fish.  I arrived about an hour before it got dark.  Considering it was friday, I was doing well.

image

I had a quick look round.  In the back of my mind, I knew I would prefer to fish the deeper end of the lake.  Unfortunately, 3 other anglers were already down that end.  So, with one other person on the reeds and after a quick chat with him,  I settled for the other end of the reeds on the otherside of the lake.

I was planning on putting a fare bit of bait out.  A mix of Bait Tec Meaty ground bait with maggots and Infustion Bait (Snatch) boilies,  with a good load of Gulp Baits Liquid GLM,

To boost the attraction they were all mixed up in small golf ball size balls.  I put out 4 over each PVA bag + 20/30 Snatch boilies.

The plan was toping up the swim if I had any action.  I was hopeful this would pull the fish out of the reeds to feed on my baited area.

The first night passed with no real action,  other than a few line bites, but I did have a bit of trouble with the birds.

The day was warming up nicely,  so I was hoping that this would bring out the carp from thier hidey hole in the reeds.

The rig I am using is very simple.  One is a double bait topped off with a small bit of fake corn and the other is a single bait topped off with corn.

I recast all rods at around 1300hrs added no extra bait other than ground baits with more bollies ground up in the Krusha.

At about 1330 my left hand rod gave a couple of bleeps and the tip bent round into my first fish on the Snatch.  With a quick battle up and down the margin, a nice 14 lb mirror was in the net.

I quickly rebait and put the kettle to celebrate my first carp of 2014!

It was very warm and windy in the night and I was feeling very confident.  However, as we all know to well, if Mr Carp does not wish to come out and play, he will not.

Oh well, time for the off.  As I needed to get back, to give the wife a bit of a break from the kids!

Till next time

About richardhandel

I would like to give a brief snap shot of my life and introduce myself; My name is Richard Handel and was born in 1965 in Suffolk. I have worked as a UK Operation & Intermodule Manager for a shipping company. I live in Hampshire now and am married with 2 young children, both girls so I am a bit outnumbered even the cat is a girl! I have been fishing since I was about 7 years old. I started on small local rivers in Suffolk, then moved onto gravel pits and then carp fishing. My personal best is a 39.08 mirror, over recent years I have started river fishing again, on the Hampshire Avon, this is a nice break from the carp lakes. My life has turned a big corner this year, the company I was working for relocated their Operation centre to Estonia. I was offered a job at the head office in London. This would have meant a 5 day commute and working in Stratford. As a family, we did not fancy this, as I would hardly spend any time with the children (and the Mrs). So after 22.5 years, I was given a nice redundancy package and with my wife is working full time. I became the house husband. This has meant a complete turn around in my fishing, as I can pick and choose when I go. I have found a splendid new syndicate to fish this year, which includes 5 lakes and some 8 miles of river with only 150 members. It's an amazing change to the way I am able to fish. I am now trying to start my own tackle business and make a bit of a name for myself in the world of fishing, as I have retired from real work. Richard

  1. I used to go fishing every weekend when I lived in Texas. My friends loved it when I came along because I never fished, so there was less competition. However, if they needs chips, snacks, or beer, I was the volunteer to go back to town and stock up.

  2. Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The text in your content seem to be running off the screen in Ie.
I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know.
The design and style look great though! Hope you get the problem solved soon.
    Thanks

However, consider this, what if you added a little information? I ain’t saying your information isn’t
solid., however suppose you added a headline to maybe get
folk’s attention? I mean Trip No 3 (2014) Carp Fishing | Carp & Course Fishing is a little boring.
You could look at Yahoo’s home page and watch how they create news titles to get
viewers interested. You might add a related video or a picture or two to get people excited about what you’ve written. Just my opinion, it could bring your posts
    a little livelier.
