Jurassic Particles

🚨 Public Service Announcement to All Carp Anglers 🚨

If your spod mix looks like:
❌ 3 sad bits of sweetcorn
❌ Half a handful of pellets from 2007
❌ “Whatever was left in the bucket”

…we need to have a word 🤦‍♂️

Because somewhere out there, there’s a carp swimming past your “meal deal bait” thinking:

“Absolutely not. I’ve standards.” 🐟💅

Meanwhile, down the bank…

One of the lads has dropped in a proper particle mix — hemp fizzing, maize popping, tigernuts crunching — basically an underwater Nando’s 🔥

Guess where the carp are going?

Exactly.

👉 Reality check:
Carp follow food, not vibes.

So if you want less blanking and more netting:

Give them variety
Give them smell
Give them something worth turning up for

Or carry on blaming the weather, the moon, and that one duck that “spooked your swim” 😅

🎣 Fish smarter. Feed better. Catch more.

Jurassic Particles

Ever had that moment… you’ve baited up perfectly, rods out, kettle on… and the bloke next to you starts hauling them out like he’s emptying a shopping trolley? 😅

Chances are, it’s not luck — it’s what’s going in the water.

🐟 Quick tip: Particle layering = more bites

Most anglers just chuck in one particle and hope for the best. But carp are natural grazers — they LOVE variety.

👉 Try this next session:

Start with a base of hemp (creates that irresistible carpet)
Add maize for visual attraction
Mix in chopped tigernuts for that extra crunch and scent trail

This creates a multi-texture feeding zone that keeps fish grubbing around longer… and that means more chances for you 💥

⚠️ Bonus tip: Don’t overdo the big bits early on — let them compete for the small stuff first!

And if all else fails… just remember:
“It’s not you… it’s definitely your mate’s bait.” 😉

Boosting Up Boilies

I’ve always believed that the edge often comes from the little details, and for me, boosting my freebies is one of those details that consistently pays off. Nutrabaits Activator is something I’ve relied on for a few years—it complements the Nutrabaits EnerGize Boilies perfectly, enhancing both attraction and leakage without overpowering the bait itself.

My approach is simple but methodical. Rather than tipping everything into one big bucket and hoping for the best, I split my boilies into individual plastic jars. This allows me to control exactly how much Activator goes into each batch. Once added, I seal the jars and gently roll them morning and evening, making sure every bait gets an even coating. It’s not about drowning them—just enough to let the liquid slowly soak in and do its job properly.

I’ll keep this process going for a couple of weeks. Over that time, you can actually see and feel the change in the boilies—they take on the liquid evenly, becoming more responsive without turning sloppy or breaking down. Once I’m happy, everything goes back into the original bags and into the switch-off freezer, ready for when I need them.

It’s a method I’ve stuck with for over 15 years now. Yes, it takes a bit more time and effort, but in my experience, it’s far more effective than trying to treat 5kg in one hit, where you never quite get that same consistency. Every bait ends up primed and working exactly how you want it.

One of my better results—a 37lb 2oz common—fell to boilies prepared in exactly this way, which tells its own story.

Hope that helps,
Richard
