***Pellets  ***

***Pellets  ***
Arguably the most prolific fish attractor of all ground baits. Our 100% Milled betaine pellets is absolutely deadly. Not the cheapest, but it’s an expensive pellet and for good reason. It really does pull fish in fast. We still have some in stock as this pellet has now been discontinued so get your while you can. When its gone its gone… spottedfin.com

Trip 8 Carp Fishing – 2024

3 Nights

Swim – No Carp

With only 2 trips to go before I head over to the Airfield Lake, I’m back in the same swim after that Scattered Lin or the new big common. If it happens, I will be chuffed, but if not, there’s always next winter or even the odd Summer overnighter.

The conditions flavored that swim again, which is a help. I arrived just before 0830 to find myself and one other angler set up in a swim called Siblings. My starting plan was to fish both rods to my left, based on my observations last week, and put another syndicate member onto that information, which resulted in a nice common for him. It isn’t always nice when this happens, as you know your thought process was spot on, but you couldn’t have been there yourself.

I walked back along the track and scattered a few pouches of Smokey Jack boilies along the snags and out into open water, leaving them a trail to follow and hopefully a pick-up.

The rain finally arrived just before 1500 hrs, and after a pair of swans had picked up both my lines, it always helped. At least I’ve fresh hook baits baits on.

The rain arrived early evening and continued until 2100 hrs. Unfortunately, there was no action over the dark hours, and around 0630, it started raining again, which wasn’t forecast last night. After checking the weather app this morning, I discovered that the rain was due to continue until after lunchtime, which was ideal conditions. Plus, the weather forecast had completely changed overnight, with the prospect of northerly winds, which isn’t ideal for this swim, and some thought needed to be put into what I do next, in regards to swim, and bait application.

After a grumpy start to the day, all because the weather was wrong, and I was looking forward to a sunny day, it finally stopped raining around 1400 hrs, and the sun did poke its head out a few times, and the warmth from the sun was so lovely.

I opted to put fresh hook baits on and change them over to something else. I have to try and inspire these carp to pick them up. I also scattered a few more pouchfuls of 12mm Smokey Jack boilies along the front of the snags. Hopefully, that will encourage the carp to move out into the open water more, and just maybe, a bite will come my way.

The second night was dead, and the fog arrived in the early hours as the temperature was dropping. I awoke to a wall of fog and nodded back off to sleep until just 8 am, as the fog was starting to clear and head into a fantastic sunny day. Something that should have been here yesterday and maybe something that affects my chances of catching this week, as I have to be home by noon tomorrow.

Unfortunately, the night was yet another blank, and I woke up to a cold east wind. The wind had forecast into my face, plus someone setting up on the end of the point opposite me, blasting baits to the same snags as me. Oh joy, it only takes a second to drive around the lake and ask. It can’t be helped, and I’m now really looking forward to the Airfield Lake.  It’s probably three times the size of this, but you can occasionally get done by a pest on there. Suppose you can’t complain because if this hobby wasn’t so popular, we would still be back in the dark ages of tackle!

It’s just about packing up time, and I’ve only got two more nights to catch my target carp. Looking at the weather currently, this swim isn’t going to be my best option.

Until next time,

Richard

“A Night to Remember: Carp Fishing Triumphs and New Personal Bests”

“A Night to Remember: Carp Fishing Triumphs and New Personal Bests”

Introduction: Sometimes, the stars align, and an unexpected opportunity opens the door to an unforgettable fishing adventure. Such was the case when a fortunate call from the wife freed up an entire night for angler Richard. With his gear hastily sorted, he embarked on a journey that would become one for the books. Join Richard as he recounts the triumphs, surprises, and new personal bests that unfolded during an epic night on the water.

Chapter 1: Seizing the Opportunity The fortuitous call from Richard’s wife set the stage for an impromptu night of fishing. With the promise of no need to return home until the following afternoon, the anticipation was high. Arriving at the lake, only two day anglers occupied their swims, leaving Richard to choose his favorite spot with the wind favorably pushing from the south.

Chapter 2: Setting the Stage Armed with insights from his Deeper lake book map, Richard prepared his swim with precision. Clipping up the spomb, he deployed a mixture of SF tiger and hemp particles, along with a medley of pellets and catalyst boilies. The rods were rigged with small bags containing the same concoction, adorned with 15mm catalyst Wafters. Little did Richard know; the stage was set for an extraordinary night.

Chapter 3: A Triple Triumph The first take, a 22lb common, swiftly validated Richard’s strategic approach. As the night deepened, a second take at 23:30 mirrored the success of the previous night. Amidst playing the fish, another rod signaled a potential double triumph. The ensuing battle ended with a second 22lb fish in the Nsr 50, marking an exceptional start to the night.

Chapter 4: The Monumental 40lb Capture As the clock struck 00:45, a substantial fight ensued, avoiding obstacles and showcasing the strength of the unseen adversary. When the fish emerged from the water, Richard’s disbelief turned to sheer joy. The scales settled at a remarkable 40lb 1oz, marking a new personal best and a moment of pure elation.

Chapter 5: Torpedo-Like Torment The night’s action continued with a 22.12lb common resembling a torpedo, providing its own set of challenges. Amidst the adrenaline-fueled excitement, the rod was back in action by 02:45, resulting in a hard-fighting 29.6oz common.

Chapter 6: A Daylight Spectacle The predawn hours brought a brief respite, allowing Richard some well-deserved rest. However, action resumed around 7 am, bringing yet another impressive catch, a 24.2lb common. With the rods back in the water, the swim was replenished, and the day’s light brought a different perspective to the triumphant night.

Conclusion: Richard’s impromptu night on the water turned into an unparalleled adventure, filled with personal bests, unexpected twists, and a string of impressive captures. As the sun rose and Richard reflected on the night’s events, he couldn’t help but savor the memories etched into the fabric of his angling journey. Until the next cast, the euphoria of this extraordinary night would linger, leaving Richard eager for the next chapter in his fishing tales.
