This winterised bulk food oil has been a massive favourite for well over 30 years. We source only the highest quality available which is essential as anything less than the best is a complete waste of time using.
📅28th February & 1st March 📍Farnborough International Exhibition Centre 🕒9am (8.30am for VIP ticket holders)
We will be there on stand 222 with more mega deals and crazy bargains! You can be amongst the first to get your hands on the new Dark Camo Luggage Range and we will also have the stars of the Brands Hatch Carp Show, the Ultracat Bait Boat and the Stabilize Rod Pods. Also in attendance will be the full range of Castaway PVA and Katran Fishing Tackle, not to mention the full Stabilize Bankware range and a load of bait boats, bait spreaders, and lots more.
This is a more substantial PVA approach — built for attraction, not just presentation.
The Castaway PVA Catfish Mesh (60mm, 7m) is designed for larger, heavier parcels, and you can see that in the size of these two finished mesh bags. They’re densely packed with chunky bait — like boilie pieces, pellets, or a coarse mix — compressed into tight, flat discs rather than elongated sticks. That shape is deliberate.
A large PVA parcel offers several advantages:
1. Concentrated food signal With larger mesh like this, you can introduce a serious mouthful of feed around the hookbait. It creates an immediate dinner-plate-sized feeding zone rather than a light scattering.
2. Heavier casting weight These parcels add mass to the rig, aiding casting distance and improving drop accuracy — particularly useful when fishing open water spots.
3. Controlled breakdown Thicker catfish-grade mesh handles oil-rich or damp mixes well. Once submerged, it melts cleanly and leaves a tight pile rather than dispersing bait over too wide an area.
4. Ideal for bigger fish tactics This sort of parcel suits situations where you’re targeting better fish and want to avoid nuisance bites. A larger food source often attracts confident, dominant carp that are willing to commit.
Compared to smaller, cable-tied PVA nuggets or sticks, this is a more assertive tactic. It’s not subtle — it’s designed to create impact. Perfect for situations where fish are actively feeding, pre-baited spots, or when you need to draw fish down quickly onto a known clear area.
It’s a good example of matching presentation size to feeding behaviour. When the fish are on it, give them something worth stopping for.
This is a neat, efficient little presentation built around a PVA cable tie system – simple, direct, and very effective for tight baiting.
The Castaway PVA Cable Tie allows you to secure a compact PVA mesh bag or solid parcel tightly around your hookbait and rig. In this case, the mesh is wrapped around a small ball of bait, cinched down firmly with the PVA tie so everything stays streamlined on the cast.
Once it hits the water, the PVA melts away, leaving a tight mound of attraction right around the hookbait.
The rig itself is clean and functional. A stiff boom with a Ronnie-style hook set up for flexibility paired a pink blank saver wafter hookbait mounted on floss blobed down. The balance is spot on — enough buoyancy to critically balance the hook, improving turning speed and increasing hooking efficiency.
What makes this approach effective is precision: Consolidated attraction – All your feed and hookbait are in one tight package. Tangle-free presentation – The hook is secured during the cast.
Instant feeding signal – As the PVA dissolves, the hookbait sits directly in the middle of the released mix.
Ideal for short sessions or cold water – Perfect when you want a bite without overfeeding. For someone who values mobility and fishing tight, accurate spots — especially margins or little clear patches — this type of setup is extremely practical.
It’s controlled, minimal, and designed to get a quick response rather than build a long-term baited area.
Small details like this often make the difference between fishing and catching.
