What are Wafters

Year on year we get asked about wafters, when to use, what makes them so effective and then anglers stating too buoyant or not buoyant enough.

In laymen terms, the name Wafter fits the hook baits perfectly, the principle being that the wafter hook baits balance your rig out by taking away the weight of the hook. So making your finished rig / bait act like a free offerings when disturbed. But please remember to balance them out against your rig, hook pattern and choice of hook length you intend to use.
For example, a simple guide, a 15mm to a size 6 hook, 18mm to a size 4 but there is big differences in weights of different hook pattern hooks, also consider hook lengths material. Fluorocarbon is heavier than braid so take this into consideration. Also swivels, rig rings, bait screws etc. also add weight.

Fashions in bait may change but our old classics don’t get any better than this Nutrabaits long standing yellow bird seed mix. Highly digestible and something totally different to the current trends of fishmeal and nut meal base mixes the majority of waters see on a daily basis.
