More Ramblings

Introduction: Delving into the rich history of his angling journey, I open the gateway to a technique he’s cherished for over 30 years—the Stix & Bag Mix. Originally introduced to PVA bags by Duncan Kay in the ’80s, I explore the evolution of this approach and present a modern, effective twist using quality products.

Creating the Perfect Blend: I unveil his secret sauce—a combination of three distinct Stix mixes from bait ingredients, expertly blended in equal proportions. With the assistance of his youngest, the mix achieves the ideal consistency, highlighted by a smiley face—a testament to the joyous process of crafting the perfect blend.

Adding a Touch of Excellence: To elevate the mix, I introduce Salmon Oil, infusing a layer of attraction that proves irresistible to carp. The ability to squeeze the mix together marks the pinnacle of readiness, ensuring optimal performance when used in PVA or mesh bags.

Versatility in Customization: Recognizing the varied preferences among anglers, I offer room for customization. Micro pellets or crushed boilies become optional additions, allowing anglers to tailor the mix to their specific preferences. This flexibility underscores the adaptability of the Stix & Bag Mix for diverse fishing scenarios.

Value in Expense: Acknowledging potential concerns about cost, I emphasize the value proposition. Despite the initial investment, the mix yields a substantial quantity—approximately 2 to 3 kgs, capable of producing a significant number of bags. The results speak for themselves, with the mix contributing to my successful carp captures.

A Glimpse of Success: Accompanying the blog is a snapshot of a remarkable catch—a stunning common carp that stands as a testament to the effectiveness of my Stix & Bag Mix. The update for 2018 promises further refinements and adjustments, ensuring continued success on the bank.

Conclusion: In conclusion, my journey into the art of Stix & Bag Mix serves as a beacon for anglers seeking a time-tested approach to carp fishing. With insights into the blend, customization options, and rewarding results, the blog stands as a comprehensive guide to mastering this cherished technique.

About richardhandel

I would like to give a brief snap shot of my life and introduce myself; My name is Richard Handel and was born in 1965 in Suffolk. I have worked as a UK Operation & Intermodule Manager for a shipping company. I live in Hampshire now and am married with 2 young children, both girls so I am a bit outnumbered even the cat is a girl! I have been fishing since I was about 7 years old. I started on small local rivers in Suffolk, then moved onto gravel pits and then carp fishing. My personal best is a 39.08 mirror, over recent years I have started river fishing again, on the Hampshire Avon, this is a nice break from the carp lakes. My life has turned a big corner this year, the company I was working for relocated their Operation centre to Estonia. I was offered a job at the head office in London. This would have meant a 5 day commute and working in Stratford. As a family, we did not fancy this, as I would hardly spend any time with the children (and the Mrs). So after 22.5 years, I was given a nice redundancy package and with my wife is working full time. I became the house husband. This has meant a complete turn around in my fishing, as I can pick and choose when I go. I have found a splendid new syndicate to fish this year, which includes 5 lakes and some 8 miles of river with only 150 members. It's an amazing change to the way I am able to fish. I am now trying to start my own tackle business and make a bit of a name for myself in the world of fishing, as I have retired from real work. Richard
