After I had lived in Hampshire 20 years, I decided to try my hand at having an allotment as I now have a family to look after. I put my name down on the waiting list, and three years later I got one. We though it would be a nice idea for everyone in the family to get their hands dirty and get some great food along the way. Also to teach them food does not come from a chiller/shelf from the local supermarket. My eldest can handle an hour and half max before the complaining starts! My youngest, however, is happy pottering of up to 4 hours.
